Upgrading from an earlier EndNote version
By default, EndNote is installed into the C: \ Program Files
\ EndNote folder. If Setup detects an earlier copy of
the EndNote program in that folder, it alerts you and gives you
two options:
If you continue installing EndNote into your
existing EndNote folder, Setup removes the older EndNote application
and word processor support files. You should select what
it should do with the styles, filters, and connection files from
your older copy of EndNote. No matter which option you choose, your libraries will not be deleted; nor will any
non-EndNote files in the EndNote directory.
- Backup older files: If you want to keep any of your older modified files to use with new EndNote, you should choose this option. EndNote creates a backup folder and all the styles, filters, and connection files from your older installation are copied into that folder. After installing EndNote, you should move any of these files that you want to use into the Styles, Filters, or Connections folders installed with new EndNote.
- Remove older files: If this option is selected, Setup replaces all of the styles, filters, and connection files from your existing EndNote installation with the new ones included with new EndNote. Do NOT choose this option if you have custom styles, filters, or connection files that you want to save. If they have the same names as any of the files to be installed, the installer will overwrite them with the new files.
NOTE:
You do not need to uninstall any earlier version of EndNote to upgrade it. The new version is installed into a new EndNote folder. After installing the new version, you will have two folders. Copy your libraries from your old EndNote folder to your new EndNote folder. If you have any customised styles, filters, or connection files, you should also copy them to the new EndNote folder. Once you have removed your customised files and libraries from the old EndNote folder, and the new EndNote is up and running, you can drag the old EndNote folder to the Trash.
New Installation
After installing EndNote, copy Voyager.enf to the filters folder (this allows you to save records from within the Academy Library catalogue and import into EndNote) and the Australian_Def_Force_Acad.enz to the connections folder (this enables you to connect and search the Academy Library catalogue from within EndNote)

Upgrading from an earlier EndNote version
You do not need to uninstall any earlier version of EndNote to upgrade it. The new version is installed into a new EndNote folder. Backup custom styles, import filters, and connection files as well as any Word documents that use Cite While You Write before you begin.
After installing the new version, you will have two folders, with each containing an EndNote program. Copy your libraries from your old EndNote folder to your new EndNote folder.
If you have customized styles, filters, or connection files, you should also copy them to Styles, Filters, or Connections folders in the new EndNote folder.
Once you have removed your customised files and libraries from the old EndNote folder, and the new version is up and running, you can drag the remaining items in the old EndNote folder to the Trash. Be careful not to delete and libraries, papers, or other items that you need.
