FULL CIRCLE

An exhibition of paintings by Max Cullen

I seem to have come full circle.

I began my career as a painter and sculptor, before taking up acting and starring as Sam, an 80 year old in Peter Ustinov's "Photo Finish"; I was just 23 years old. Now nearly 50 years on, I have recently completed two short films playing old blokes, and am in the middle of filming Baz Lurhmann's "The Great Gatsby" playing Owl Eyes; an old bloke.

At the same time, I have been preparing my latest solo exhibition, a visual autobiography of paintings big and small, that track a life's journey across this great brown land.
My latest technique is to dribble paint and see what happens - come to think of it, I dribbled once before, seventy odd years ago! Is nothing new?
